Plan B

If you're dream was to be an actor, an artist or a musician, chances are you are now currently employed by either the restaurant, clerical or telemarketing industry. Actor, artist and musician are pretty tough Plan A's (or is it, Plans A?) and many who endeavor on these paths soon realize that their Plan B pays the bills much more reliably.

But most people don't think of medicine as a Plan B sort of career. Nobody says, "Man I've struggled with this theater thing long enough. I go to 50 auditions a year and never get called back. Maybe it's time I got my shit together and went to medical school." Doesn't happen. Except for me. See, my Plan A was to be a screenwriter. Medicine was always Plan B. The problem was that the Plan B I happened to pick is so freaking competitive that I never really got around to pursuing Plan A. Aside from this blog, my CV as it pertains to any sort of writing career remains completely empty. So, I have made a resolution: I will complete my first screenplay by the end of 2009. No matter how horrible or flawed it turns out to be, I will write something that could potentially be made into a feature-length film before year's end.

P.S.
James Logan's journal. Friday, March 9:
Saw Watchmen over weekend. Good movie. Have much to say. Review coming soon.

Good luck. Script Frenzy is similar to the National Novel Writing Month but for scripted material and starts in a week or so. (Am giving it a miss due to lots of other things on but will be doing NaNoWriMo later this year, in fact am kind of doing my own right now).
